Drop Scene of 0-9, PCB Inquiry committee and new Captain?
We are still waiting for the “Drop Scene” of the 0-9 trashing of our beloved national cricket team in Aussies land as there is lot of happenings as expected proceeding that tour. But for me that “Drop Scene” is already occurred/picturised(?) as Mr. President Asif Ali Zardari has patted Butt’s butt and told him to carry on dear, but just do it a little better if you can. Don’t worry you and your family plus extended family aka PCB staff will have a vacation in Sri Lanka in 2011 with World Cup team for free.
Butt’s dear brother-in-law (Mr. Ahmed Mukhtar) came to rescue when every one was trying to snatch the lolly-pop from Butt’s hands as he was present in the meeting with Zardari according to media reports and Mr. President also told them to solve the Javaid Miandad’s problem at merit aka (get rid of him). Yes apparently Mr. Zardari didn’t had time to meet Butt as the “urgent” meeting was cancelled but media also reported that meeting was held un-officially somewhere (you can guess Mr. Zardari is very found of doing things secretly). So now our fat toddling kid will be dancing his butt out every where and teasing people who want him sleep with lolly-pop like a bimbo.
Talking about Inquiry committee, well don’t look at them to bring up something special. It is suffice to say when people responsible for the problem and issues are part of some inquiry committee meant to deal with those issues can only result in creating more issues. Don’t be mad at me I am not accusing all of them but it is enough to think the committee is just another foul play to make fool of us when you read reports like this:
Younis Khan when asked to appear in front of that committee asked about the members of committee and when he got to know Mr. Yawer Saeed is also a member he was furious and said what kind of committee it is which have people responsible to lead a campaign against the captain of the team with the help of some players – Media report.
Also current manager Abdul Raquib is also not happy with Yawer Saeed’s inclusion in inquiry committee. Why? Same problem as stated by Younis Khan for more details read this.
Who will be our next Captain? A golden question with a golden answer. Well Stani Army has suggested some names and raised questions regarding this matter and some nice discussion is going on there. I will also have a say on possible Captaincy candidates here:
Mohammad Yousuf, is a no go for me, he doesn’t have that thing to lead Pakistan team we need a strong charactiristic captain on and off the field.
Shoaib Malik, after his acts against other captains and rumors about him being part of so many controversies I will keep him away from leading the side once again I will not even bear him selected for the team.
Younis Khan, well if he gets the support from within the team, management and board he could do it reasonably well. I still believe in him even though he is trigger happy emotional soul. oh but biggest concern is his form and I think all that captaincy saga is effecting that sensitive soul so there are chances once his pride has been restored he might get his glory back.
Shahid Afridi, (keeping ball chewing a side for a moment) he has everything in him to lead Pakistan team as far as what we have seen in him already, a little bit of experience and polishing and he can make a very good captain. Biggest concern is his brain explosions at times either with opposite players or with ball (trying to eat it in desperation). Second concern is his place in test squad, well first I think he is just reluctant to play test cricket as it doesn’t attract him or something like that otherwise he had the ability to play test cricket, he can bowel and can field well , has the required physical fitness to best cope with 5 days game. He can bat lower down the order and put some runs on the board very quickly to lift the total. But he may not be successful in saving matches or fighting out difficult conditions for hours but it is acceptable as you can not consider him your main batsman he is only an all rounder and that too a bowling all rounder.
So we have to decide between Shahid Afridi or Younis Khan but both are tricky choices, we need to consider Younis khan’s form and his suitability to ODI format (He will not play/lead T20 side). In case of Shahid Afridi we need to consider his stupidity at times trying to be too clever than what he is.
What you think? All above is what my peanut size brain thinks you may disagree or feel it dumb but I would like you to express it right here in that little comment form they have, Cheers!
NOTE: Some points are based on media reportsof local media which may or may not be correct.

It is good to hear some things going on in the media from someone who can actually read them, there doesn’t arrive so much in the places I look…
Anyway what I also wrote at Stani’s, the obvious names are imho out of the race except for Yousuf, who must keep the head over water until a successor arises from somewhere. This is where the efforts must go. But I can’t see that happening. The first choice would be to look in the A-team, I would closely examine there. Over at Stani’s Wasim also brought Gul up, he was in my thoughts too but I don’t know if he is the sharpest? Also I seem to remember he was one of the guys who like to stir some dirt up. Well yes this would be my suggestion, look in the A-side.
Also I suspect PK has a domestic trophy for the long format, so look there. There MUST be someone who can lead a team over the long distance. PK is a cricketting nation. I am all pro going full risk here, the child has already fallen into the well, it can’t get any worse. The divas in the team must start to play for country not for self.
On a sidenote. No one is talking about vice captain Kamran. Ah well I guess he is not bearable anymore for that job. *sigh*
Wes’ last blog:
Seventoes fails again
You are admitting that the main issues like under performance and politics will not be addressed, so what is the point in changing a captain the new captain will meet the same fate. Only a highly desperate person with no self respect will accept this job.
Younis has self respect so he won’t accept it, Malik will never ask for it again unless he will finish off all of his opponents like a Ninja assasin. Yousaf and Afridi are the only two who are desperate and can do any thing for the job.
Wes, some of the seniors are sick they will not play as a team man under a captain like Yousuf and he will always be in trouble and media target. Even bloody Aussies commentators were having hits on him. So he is not the guy to lead a team like Pakistan which always has a special culture. It is not Australia it is Pakistan.
Again with such team culture they will not allow a junior leader like Smith to perform and lead them this is harsh reality.
Kamran need time before he is ready to do the job
Yes of course when the people involved in those issues are part of committee and their “My Lord” will stay till at least WC 2011, who will address those issues.
Players who are doing all this will readily and happily accept the job, what self respect are you talking about? do you think players like Malik have any self respect?
They all are just pulling each other legs and they will continue doing it, we can only hope for good by making a captain who has more authority and better sense of cricket and in that case Afridi or Younis are the best option I think.
I have said it before that I cant see much changing until Zardari, the patron of the board, goes. How people voted for this guy to be our president is beyond comprehension. We can see how ignorant our people are with the recent trouble over Zardari’s attempt to appoint two new judges without consulting the supreme court and in violation of the constitution. As soon as another party’s leader criticises Zardari (e.g. Nawaz Sharif), people start coming out protesting against them and for Zardari and start burning effigies. Pathetic! Illiterate and dumbed-down. If the masses were educated, criminals like him would never get into power.
So system to be blamed as we are blaming it over at CricketFiles, how to change the system?
Do we really need one extraordinary son of Pakistan to do it? Can’t it be done by collective efforts even smaller and non-significant. Why they say every drop combines to make a river (idiom?). Look like we have given up on hope and all that? We are just limping along with whatever comes our way and wherever it takes us.
Being the young generation and next in line to take control of this country we need to step forward and do it not just whine here and there and look for someone to do it. No necessarily something extraordinary but if we can make things right on which we have influence and raise the voice I think we are done with our part of the job, but than we needs these kind of jobs from every where and every corner.
Stani can I ask you a question, what nationality are you?
Well it sounds quite so that it is in Zardari’s interest to keep the masses unedcuated?
Okay I will just copy my post from Stani Army’s blog, this is basically the conclusion after all this moaning and little marginal tinkerings, which will not lead anywhere and not solve the systematical problems, so you have to go radical:
If they do not understand what it means to play as a team they have to go, and if they do not even feel willing to actually act as a unit they must make space for new players. Test means playing for your country with pride. Not re-enacting “The great slaughter on the mad chicken yard” with the captain being the rooster on the dung pile. How can adult men not wrap their heads around it.
The first goal must always be to win. Any other interests have to be subordinated under this. What is so hard to understand about that? How can someone who is not primarily interested in winning be a part of the national team? He has to go. If it means that the entire team has to be exchanged then be it.
Pick players that are hot on playing and giving their best. I’d rather pick a 19 year old with fire in the butt than a 30 year old whose only aim it is to undermine the authority of the captain. Maybe you will not win a lot of matches at first but the world will look on you with different eyes and you will receive the support of your country. Why be worried about five years of drought. What’s to come if you keep the team? Look at Bangladesh. Utterly young team that fights their arse off. They will go their way I am absolutely convinced. If Pakistan needs a setback like that, please, bring it on.
Now you will say “But the board! It will not make any changes!” Then I must ask, does the board not wish the team to win? If not, then nothing can help Pakistani cricket I’m afraid. You cannot have both, rotten players and big victories. The board has to decide in favour of one.
Cheers,
Wes
~ Play For Country Not For Self ~
Our people voted in Zardari. They may as well be dead for the signs of rational intelligent thinking they are showing. How on earth will these drops combine?…I almost wrote ‘dopes’ for a minute there. It would have been more appropriate though
And who are those people, you might not be in Pakistan or voting for any election but I ask all those who are here, what are they doing?
Some like me young and little bit concerned, didn’t vote in last election as they feel it is useless like I think there was no one capable of my vote. But this is a mistake (yes my thinking changed a bit now). We should go out and support what we feel is best for system and Pakistan. If there is no one capable of doing it bring on the one who is, one of us young and concerned about nation. Mustafa Kamal (Karachi Mayer) did it and proved it if someone is willing to do and care about it he can still do a lot.
We as a young educated lot we have to step forward, we just can’t help running behind our career and jobs. System is already producing an environment which is producing a generation who is only and only concerned about their career and job at the price of ethics, passion and aims. Life has been made so hard you only think of how you have to fulfill that specific need of your family. We have to get rid of this thinking and at least one generation have to sacrifice some of their peace and wishes to correct the system.
Nicely done Wes, as fans and nation team followers we are willing to sacrifice for rebuilding the team but that manegement has no vision at all, they are just willing to spend their time and bring up some good results to justify their job and reap out the maximum advantage they can out of it. PCB is one of our richest and luxurious board and majority of officials are just doing foreign tours with families and having the hell of a time at the stack of Pakistan cricket.
That is why we want this management to go away starting from top ass Butt to all his team. Bring on the new but capable and credible management team and put some credibility check on them. Even this management doesn’t allowed the constitution of PCB to be finalized as it may bring on some check and balance.
Well said Stani, I completely agree with you one generation will have to sacrifice and those who know what’s wrong have to come out and educate others by becoming more involved in politics.
Those of us who are living abroad can only stay connected with people at home through public forums.
WES
Match fixing still exists, and is the prime reason why the players and administrators are after each others neck to get the key post. That is the main reason why the administration doesn’t want to make the changes.
Wes,
I am of dual nationality, Pakistani and British. I could not care less though because I am a Muslim and Islam prohibits nationalism. You only have to look at the news and what is happening around the world to realise why Islam does so. There is great wisdom in this; for those that think and understand.
I wholeheartedly believe that no part of this world is more mine than anyone else’s, and no part is more anyone else’s than mine.
This looks all pretty hopeless. So, if nothing can be changed or done about the status quo anyway, we can as well stop talking about it and go and have some icecream. No?
So where do you guys think can changes be expected most likely? I think maybe Butt going. But what would/wouldn’t change if he went?
Stani thanks, of course apart from the actual answer you give more info which tickles my curiosity and raises a lot of questions, but this might not be the right place or time to discuss.
Feel free to email me Wes. I do charge for my information though
Enjoyed the posts..
Great thread. Enjoyed the posts..
Well I’m not kinda person commenting on posts, gosh I feel happy when someone appreciate my efforts and post their comments on my blog. however this post really deserve some of my time.
People commented here seems pretty concern about and really care about Pakistan and its cricket. but I’m really disappointed with the people including myself. We talk more than taking steps. We always blame our system for everything. We don’t think what is system comprise of. We the people of this country are making this nation. Just close your eyes for a bit of time and think whether or not you’re playing the role you need to play for the betterment of the society and country.
Lets just not blame each other but instead hold each other hands, stand firm and work for the unity of the nation. once we achieved in getting these goals, all of our institution will start functioning and we will become developed and prosper nation.
Welcome Faheem to ReverseSwing , “oye aa gia aen tay chaa gia aen” nice comment
We are still looking at others specially seniors to do it for us but I think they are not going to make it better it is time for youth to start taking control of it in right direction.
