I am usually into putting up long posts with some intention and on topics which made me itching and for that I need time which is a rare luxury these days for me. But these two guys make me do this, a short little hasty basty post.
I was expecting a great battle despite a desperately short test series between two test giants , what the hell? if you can play 3 tests with crap teams why not with best team, IPL is still little away, oh come on. And the series stood up to expectations or may be against expectations for some guys out there.
What was first impression? It was like, oh dead batting pitches once again, South Africa not doing good and low on confidence after English series and controversies so India will be on top at home. First test was almost like shocker and yet the second one again was a bit surprising. That is how good battle between good test teams amuse you.
We have seen some special performances like Steyn swing bowling show on an easy looking batting pitch, Saffers spirit in first match and world strongest batting lineup failure against quality swing bowling (yeah there was no Dravid and Laxman but aren’t they still supposed to be strongest aka Rank # 1). That is a concern for India for sure that like other sub-continent teams India’s batsmen need to find how to tackle cunning swing bowling specially the upcoming future lot.
Then came the second test in famous Eden Garden (what a giant stadium it is). India obviously kept away any swing possibility and added spin to the surface (actually Eden Garden pitch typically behaves like that, so nothing extra ordinary) but still after that first test Saffers were not supposed to play like that?. They were totally outplayed in second test almost similarly they outplayed India in first test.

Highlight of this test were two men Hashim Amla and Harbhajan Singh. Well the way Amla batted in this series was just classic and something I have never witnessed recently (I am not going to dive into stats as the character of his innings specially second test second inning is enough for me to rank it in top of them ). Amla played with purpose and determination and performed what he is capable of. Earlier he was a underachiever but this tour might turn it around. It will also help South Africa find their middle order problems as there was not enough support for Kallis as AB is out of form and Duminy is mysterious case of one series glory man.

Now Mr Harbhajan Singh, well he was under some fire by media as he really did perform poorly in recent matches. But well this time it was Eden Garden his favorite ground as he had a phenomenal record on this ground. He did it once again and at a very crucial moment even though after last match performance he wasn’t looking like doing it. But he is one angry soul with lack of temperament. His celebrations during the match and his body language was of a man fighting against all the world trying to prove every one wrong. But I am afraid he can’t even after this performance he isn’t a world beater as he will not do it often and India need more options in spin bowling with him. Mishra is looking good in patches but needs improvement. It is similar condition in fast bowling department as only Zaheer Khan is fighting against the odds.
To get an idea of how furious Bhaji is against Media and world and how desperate he was to put a good show read this, his recent interview or media briefing some where. Don’t you think with this kind of behavior you invite more of media trashing for next time you will not perform again. He should have been simply be humble and let the media bit their own dust for a while.
Oh I still have to do a preview post of two T20 between mysterious Poms and win deprived (

Unbelievable batting from Amla.
Viru was one of my favourite players but I didn’t like what he did today. It’s as good as (or bad as) cheating. And then there are his comments about Bangladesh. Disappointing.

I agree with your post about Bhajji. He has this habit of shining in those once-in-25-tests which turn out to be very memorable, and then makes it his own.
He should really use his brain less and just trust his bowling skill. He actually can float the ball a bit, and fox. It’s when he tries to think a little too much and bowl too many “variations” that he gets into the “bitchslapped” mode.
And don’t get me started on his antics and comments. It’s quite annoying.
I wasn’t happy with Sehwag’s actions. In these days and times, winning-at-any-cost attitue is a commodity , but true sportsmanship is a rarity.

Wecome thevickerman, well yes I noticed the way Indian team relly on him in bowling department he mostly disappoints you but once n while he do perform well he make it too hyped, not a good attitude from a responsible player.
Well Sachin Tendulkar was great today and I did requested some stupid things from him for future lolz
